In most itchy skin conditions or acute rashes, an anti-histamine or corticosteroid is prescribed for oral use. Anti-histamines can cause drowsiness which may not be practical during working hours and prolonged use of oral corticosteroids can have a host of side effects. Both are contraindicated in pregnant women although they may be used in severe cases.

This formula may also be effective in treating other allergic conditions including hay fever or post nasal drip depending on the severity of your allergy.

A homeopathic alternative is safe to use for all ages, pregnant or breast feeding women and does not have any side effects. A simple homeopathic formula for itching skin and itchy eyes can be used for both an acute rash as well as chronic skin conditions. Please consult with your homeopathic pharmacy or qualified homeopathic practitioner before using the anti-itch formula for your skin condition.

A commonly used homeopathic anti-itch formula contains the following homeopathic remedies.

  • Histaminum 6CH – 30 CH
  • Mezereum 6CH – 30CH
  • Urtica urens 6CH – 30CH

The above formula can be used in liquid, granule, pillule or tablet form. A single dose should be administered when required and can be repeated every 20 minutes if the itch does not subside. In cases of intermittent itching, the anti-itch formula should be used at least once daily, preferably at bedtime, even if there is no episodes of itching throughout the day. This serves as a prophylaxis (preventative) for bouts of itching as long as the skin condition is persisting.

This remedy may be useful for eczema, psoriasis, nappy rash, hives and dry itchy skin.
